Teeth Whitening Trays

For whitening your teeth at home, you will want to use the Sapphire at-home teeth whitening treatment. This home whitening kit comes with custom made teeth whitening trays that hold the whitening gel in place. Unlike over the counter whitening trays, the Sapphire trays are comfortable and fit your mouth perfectly.

Why are Teeth Whitening Trays Necessary?

The teeth whitening trays are necessary for teeth whitening at home because they hold the whitening gel in the proper place for the best results. The custom made trays have what are called whitening reservoirs built in. The reservoirs are small spaces between the trays and the teeth. This is the area where the gel covers the teeth and is held in place. Without the whitening reservoirs, the gel would not stay in it's proper place for the best whitening resluts.

How are the Whitening Trays Created?

Las Vegas cosmetic dentist Dr. Bloch will take a mold of your mouth and then send it to a special dental laboratory where the whitening trays will be created. The dental lab technician creates a cast from this mold and applies a thin coat of plastic to each tooth on the cast. This thin layer of plastic acts as the gel on the teeth.

A plastic sheet is vacuum molded over the cast with the plastic layer and is formed to create the teeth whitening trays. The thin plastic coat holds the plastic sheet just far enough away from the teeth on the cast to create the whitening reservoir. The plastic tray is then removed from the cast and adjusted to fit flawlessly in your mouth.

Use Lip Balm with SPF

Today is the first official day of summer, with summer comes lots of sun and outdoor activities. Now everybody knows that when they are out in the sun to use sunscreen, but what most people forget to use in lip balm that has SPF inside it. There are several lip balms out there, but not all have SPF which is what will help protect your lips from the UV rays of the sun.

Your lips are a very sensitive area of skin that needs to be protected. There are two main reasons people will get skin cancer on the lip area; smoking a pipe and sun exposure. The most common type of skin cancer due to sun exposure is Squamous Cell Carcinoma. According to the American Academy of Dermatology the cure rate is 95%, however, if left untreated can destroy much of the tissue surrounding the tumor and can result in loss of the entire lip. Tumors that reach 3/4 to 1 inch in size can develop in to large masses, and have the potential to metastasize. In really aggressive cases, the tumor can spread to the lymph nodes, especially if it begins on the lip or ear.

Signs to looks for on the lips are persistent sores, non healing ulcerations, bumps, or thickening skin on the lower lip. If you are experiencing these symptoms you should see your dermatologist. Your dentist should also examine your oral tissues for cancer a least one time per year.

So make sure to have fun this summer, and make sure you have SPF in your lip balm!

Teeth Whitening Procedure

More than 250,000 people have whitened their teeth with the Sapphire teeth whitening treatment. The Sapphire treatment whitens smiles several shades brighter than other teeth whitening treatments. Las Vegas cosmetic dentist Dr. Bloch provides her patients with the Sapphire treatment to help create beautiful smiles.

The Sapphire teeth whitening procedure takes about an hour to complete. During this time, the doctor and her experienced dental staff will set up the procedure and Dr. Bloch will apply the whitening gel to your teeth. The gel is skillfully applied to each tooth so only the teeth are targeted with the gel. The doctor's take care not to get the gel on the gums to prevent possible tooth sensitivity after the treatment. The gel is then activated by a special blue light to increase the whitening results.

Teeth whitening can be done at home or in doctor's cosmetic dentistry office. They provide the Sapphire at-home teeth whitening kit to their Las Vegas patients who wish to either maintain their teeth whitening results or who want to whiten their teeth at-home. Both the in-office and at-home teeth whitening treatments use the same whitening gel. Financing Dental Treatment

Everyone knows quality dental work is expensive. If you need dental work and money is an issue, financing is a great way to make it fit your budget. Whether you are having restorative dental procedures; fillings and crowns, or cosmetic procedures; porcelain veneers you can finance the treatment and make affordable monthly payments.

The financing company that we use in our office is CitiBank. They offer 3 and 6 month interest free plans. For example, if you needed $2400 in dental treatment, with this option you could make 6 monthly payments of $400.

If you wanted to make even smaller payments they also have budget payment plans. With this option you can finance your dental treatment for a longer period of time (up to 3 yrs) however, with this option there is an annual percentage rate that will apply. For example if you needed $2000 in dental work and you financed with this option your minimum monthly payment could be as low as $54.

These are both great options and we try to do all we can to make dentistry affordable. There are 3 ways to apply.

Smile Makeovers

Smile Makeovers are cosmetic procedures that are completely customizable to each individual's needs. There are multiple different reasons people come to our office for smile makeovers, it may be the color of the teeth, broken or missing teeth, or the alignment of the teeth.

The different procedures that can be done to fix these common problems, vary from something as simple as whitening to porcelain veneers to porcelain bridge work and implants.

The most common procedure for smile makeovers is porcelain veneers. If you are interested in having porcelain veneers done the first step is to set up a consultation. At the consultation appointment we take photos, and models of your teeth and we sit down and discuss what you want your smile to look like. The doctor will then discuss what the options are to accomplish your smile goals. The next step is to communicate all the information along with the models and photos to our master ceramist who will then do a customized "wax up" or a mock up of what the new smile will look like.

Now some people have concerns about the look of the final porcelain. A lot of people will say, "I don't want to have Chicklet teeth" or "I have seen people who have done cosmetic work and it looks fake." If you are somebody who has similar concerns, I will tell you, with modern technology and the cosmetic porcelains that are available, your teeth will look completely natural as if you were born with beautiful teeth.

Once the "wax up" is complete you are ready for the work to be done. You then come in for the preparation day. At this appointment we will prepare the teeth and make temporaries to place on the teeth while the porcelain restorations are being made. Your temporaries are made from the "wax up" so you can get a preview of what the porcelain restorations will look like in your mouth. At this point we rely on the patients communication with us, while in the temporaries it is important that if you want anything changed you let us know so we can relay the information to our lab. For example, if you want the teeth a little longer or a little shorter, or more rounded, or lighter in color, we can inform our ceramist so he can place the changes in the porcelain veneers. Once you love your new smile in the temporaries we will give the lab the okay to finish the porcelain.

On the day we place the porcelain veneers, we will remove your temporaries and try in the new restorations. We will have you look at them and make sure you love them before we bond them in. Once you give us he okay we will go forward and bond the porcelain veneers in place. Now that they are in you have your new beautiful smile to enjoy for years to come.
